1794

25 February 1794 – A member of parliament from Marseilles, François Omer Granet, denounces Napoleon Bonaparte in the Convention for having proposed to renovate the bastilles in Marseilles.

24 March 1794 – Napoleon Bonaparte gets the command of the artillery of the army of Italy.

5 April 1794 – Younger brother of Maximilien Robespierre, Augustin, representative on assignment at the army of Italy, writes to his senior in praise of citizen Buonaparte.

21 May 1794 – In Colmars, Basses-Alpes, Napoleon Bonaparte draws up the plan for the Italy campaign.

27 July 1794 – Arrest of Maximilien Robespierre, who is executed the day after.

6 August 1794 – Napoleon Bonaparte is suspended from his duties, arrested and charged with complicity with the Robespierre brothers. – 20 August 1794 – He gets his freedom back... – 30 August 1794 –... and his duties as well.

1795

29 March 1795 – Napoleon Bonaparte gets the command of the artillery of the army of the West.

21 April 1795 – At Marseilles, Napoleon gets engaged with Désirée Clary.

13 June 1795 – Napoleon Bonaparte refuses an appointment as General of infantry... – 15 June 1795 –... and gets convalescence leave.

15 September 1795 – His name is struck off the list of generals in regular service. His refusal to join his duties is held against him.

5 October 1795 – Paul-François de Barras, Chief General of the Army of the Interior, appoints him upon the recommandation of Lazare Carnot commander of the forces earmarked for repressing insurrection from the royalist sections in Paris. – 10 October 1795 – Barras praises general Buonaparte in front of the Convention. He manages to get his appointment confirmed. – 15 October 1795 – Napoleon Bonaparte meets Barras' mistress, Marie-Josèphe-Rose de Tascher de La Pagerie, widow Beauharnais. – 16 October 1795 – Napoleon Bonaparte is promoted as Division General. –  26 October 1795  – He succeeds Barras as commander of the army of the Interior.

3 November 1795 – Assumption of duties in the Executive Directory. Directors chosen by the Council of the Ancients are: Paul-François de Barras, Jean-François Reubell (a.k.a. Rewbell), Louis-Marie La Révellière-Lépeaux, Etienne-François Le Tourneur and Lazare Carnot.
