Jean Joseph Ange d'Hautpoul was born on May 13, 1754 at the Castle of Salette (Cahuzac-sur-Vàre).

He served during the French Revolution as an officer, then during the Consulate and the Empire as a General.

He died on February 14, 1807, after having been wounded on the battlefield of the battle of Eylau.

Jean Joseph Ange d'Hautpoul was buried in the 43th division of the Pere Lachaise Cemetery .
