Castle of Malmaison
Joséphine of Beauharnais purchased this castle in April 1799. It was redeveloped by famous architects Percier and Fontaine.
During the Consulate, Napoleon Bonaparte stayed often there, deciding the Louisiana Purchase and the institution of the Legion of Honor.
Josephine retired at Malmaison after her divorce in 1809, and died there on May 29, 1814.
