Jean-Nicolas Corvisart des Marets was born on February 15, 1755 in Dricourt, French Ardennes.

He became Primary physician of Napoleon I in 1804, and has been treating the Emperor until 1815.

He died on September 18, 1821 in Courbevoie, near Paris, less than five months after his most famous patient.

He was buried in the Cemetery of Athis-Mons, near Paris .

In 1964, the French Postal Service released a 0.20 Franc stamp bearing the image of Jean-Nicolas Corvisart des Marets .
